The US Dept of Health and Human Services has created a new website to assist families in finding health care services. Resources featured on the website include the 311 Prenatal Hotline, Insure Kids Now, Family-to-Family Health Information Centers, Text 4 Baby, Find a Health Center Locator and the Maternal and Child Health Program. CCRI becomes IACET Certified!

Directors Leadeship Academy – Now Accepting Participants!

CCRI’s Director’s Leadership Academy (DLA), funded by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County, is now accepting applications for participation.

Eligibility and Cost
Child care administrators who have at least one year of experience and currently work in a licensed star-rated program in Mecklenburg County are eligible to apply. Services will be delivered at no cost at participating programs and at CCRI’s Charlotte office between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012.

Services
Directors Leadership Academy provides customized, on-site technical assistance and off-site training to develop leadership, business and administration skills. Benefits of participation include program quality improvement through individual action plans based on the Program Administration Scale; professional development opportunities; access to college credit-bearing coursework through Stanly Community College; and supports from DLA’s mentoring system.

Interested administrators should attend a DLA Recruitment Session on Tuesday, July 12 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. or Thursday, July 14 at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sessions are held at CCRI, 4601 Park Road, Suite 500, Charlotte 28209.

Infant Toddler Quality Initiative – Now Accepting Participants!

CCRI’s Infant Toddler Quality Initiative (ITQI), funded by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County, is now accepting applications for participation.

Eligibility and Cost
All star-rated licensed child care centers (regardless of star rating) in Mecklenburg County that are committed to improving the quality of infant toddler care are eligible to apply. ITQI services are delivered at no cost on-site at participating programs and at CCRI’s Charlotte Office for a full year beginning upon acceptance and ending on June 30, 2012.

Services
ITQI services include training on Infant Toddler Foundations and Environment Rating Scale (ITERS-R); customized, on-site technical assistance; access to EDU 234 and 234A (Infants, Toddlers & Twos) and 100-level credit-bearing coursework available at CCRI; and access to peer mentors.
